New playoff system for Single A

At first I wasnt sure if I was going to like this new system or not, but from the scores of lastnight I might just learn to like it. Last night was the birth of the new "sweet 16" style playoffs as yall know and like most people I was figuring that seeds 1-8 will be the vicotrs, deffinetly 1-5 seeds wont loose. Well.............. that aint exactly the case.
Eastern Division D2 had two lower seeded teams win last night.
11 Strasburg won over 6 Clark Co 34 to 27 and 10 Manassas Park won over 7 William Monroe pretty easily by the score of64-22. The D2 western Division has played out so far with the higher seed winning.
D1 has 12 Bath Co. winning over 5 Franklin 20-12, 10 William Cambell rocked 7 Rappahannock 40-13 in the Eastern Division
Down here in the West 11 Chilhowie came back from being down by more than 20 to win 39-38 over 6 Rural Retreat.
Looks like that round one with 5 games left to play in D1 and 4 in D2 has already been exciting. Looks like to me that this new system may bring some much needed action and excitment back to the playoffs. Underdogs will get their shots as perinial powerhouses will be ever ready to defend their ground. Myself, I think this new system will be ok with some minor tweeks. What do yall think?

Re: New playoff system for Single A

I agree, I like the new playoff system. There are some good teams this year with lower seeds that have a chance of winning some playoff games. The evidence of this was last night. Some teams that would not have made the playoffs in the old system, because they didn't win their district, got the chance to play and made good on it. Also another thing to consider is 6-4 or 5-5 teams (because they had really tough schedules) that got lower seeds and are really good teams. These teams should not be counted out just yet.
